Deanery Information Officer Appointment
The Deanery Standing Committee is seeking to appoint a Deanery Information Officer.  The following excerpt from the Diocese gives a description of the D.I.O's role.

A Deanery Information Officer provides a focal point for the co-ordination and dissemination of Christian information.  The DIO:

  • Is appointed by Deanery Synod at the first meeting of each new triennium and becomes an officer of the Deanery Standing Committee (Deanery Synod Rule 6).
  • Should liaise as closely as practicable and possible with the Rural Dean, Deanery Lay Co-Chairman and Deanery Synod Secretary in carrying out his/her role.
  • Should endeavour to maintain and improve the flow of information.
    - Between parishes within the Deanery
    - Between the Deanery and the Diocese
    - From parishes and Deanery to The Sarum Link and local media

In addition to this someone to look after the Deanery website is needed - this may or may not be the same individual.  He or she needs to be someone:

  • with middling computer skills - does not need to be a 'geek'!
  • who has a computer with a reliable internet connection.
  • who can maintain a network of links to the parishes providing parochial information on a regular basis.
  • who has the time to update the site - usually once a month is adequate.
  • who has the ability to winkle out, from those in the know, items of Deanery interest.
